Saving of Calendars
Saving of calendars has been our most requested feature for a while now, and we are very excited to announce that this feature is officially live!
How it Works
You will notice two key additions to the calendar pages on the site:
- A 'Save Button' has been added to the left of the print button, above the calendar display.
- A 'Saved Calendars' link has been added to the main navigation of the site.
Saving a Calendar
Start off by selecting a calendar, adding your notes and making whatever edits you would like. Once you are happy with your calendar and want to save it, simply click the save button above the calendar. This will open up a modal where you can name your calendar and save it to your 'Saved Calendars' list. All edits you have made to a calendar will be saved, this includes notes you have added, font settings, color settings, holiday settings and start settings.
Accessing Saved Calendars
You can access your saved calendars by clicking on the 'Saved Calendars' link in the main navigation at the top of all pages of the site. You will also see a count within this link showing you how many calendars you currently have saved.
On the 'Saved Calendars' page you will see a list of your saved calendars. Each calendar item will have a view/edit button as well as a delete button, should you ever wish to delete a calendar. Clicking on the view/edit button will open up your saved calendar so you can continue editing it and/or print/download it.
Editing Saved Calendars
Once you have opened up your saved calendar, you can continue to edit it as you would on any other calendar page on the website. Your changes will be automatically saved as you make them. There is a save indicator at the top right of the calendar that will confirm once your changes have been saved. Once you are finished editing, you can simply close or leave the page. The next time you return to this saved calendar your changes will still be there.
How Calendars are Stored
One of the main goals we set out to achieve with QuickCalendars has always been a sign up/sign in free user experience. Staying true to this, you do not need to create an account in order to save calendars. When you save a calendar, it is saved to your local storage in your web browser.
For your privacy, nothing is stored online - but this also means your saved calendars:
- Are only available on this device/browser
- Won’t sync to other devices
- May be removed if you clear browser data
So essentially, as long as you are accessing saved calendars from the device and browser you originally saved them from, your calendars will be available. They will only be removed if you clear your browser data.
